When I received first gold medal in 1981

First time I received GOLD MEDAL in 1981

I stood first in my class{ Eight Standard }and for that academic excellence I received gold medal in 1981.Those subjects which were in school curriculum at that time still are same today.At that time we were scoring out of 100 in each subject and today though in some schools gradation system used but I feel scoring marks is better system for merit wise rank formation in populous country like INDIA.I personally want 1.Observation skill 2.Interview the two new subjects of 100 marks each from Standard 1 to Standard 12.I further want that there should not be any CET for any courses after 12 th standard instead Class 7^th , class 10^th and class12th  scored marks in all subjects be considered together to form a merit list to get admission in all courses after 12^th .There should not be any supplementary examination in any standard and nobody fail in any exam ,the students get marks as they actually score.

Bad experience

It was 1980,our school trip by train went to visit North India.We visited Delhi,Amritsar,Chandigarh.At Amritsar we visited Wagha Border,INDIA-PAKISTAN border.To our Indian soldier performing duty at the border,one of my friend said”Major,you are very lucky to get chance to serve nation at border,must be feeling proud.”The reply of that soldier shocked me at that time,he replied “KIS BAAT KA ABHIMAN,PET KE LIYE SAB KARANA PADATA HAI”meaning in English”Why should I feel proud ,I am doing duty to fill my stomach”.I was fourteen year old at that time.

I was in a residential school and we did not possess any radio with us.I was topper in my class and with other two from my class were selected by our Higher HINDI teacher to check the students hindi essay writing copy.We used to visit Teacher’s house at 8 PM every Wednesday and in their home radio listen to “BINAKA GEETMALA”a Top chart hindi songs programme presented by famous Amit Sayani.

Other venue in those days were Dhobi’s{Washerman}house to listen cricket commentary on radio.In Hindi commentary ,Sushil Doshi was very famous.
