Subject: Suggestion for reform in NEET-UG and MBBS admission process

Respected Sir,

I am writing this letter as a concerned parent from Nagpur, Maharashtra, to place before you a constructive suggestion regarding the current NEET-UG examination and MBBS admission system in India.

In recent years, repeated issues related to national-level entrance examinations have caused stress and uncertainty among students and parents. Keeping in mind the welfare of students and the need for a fair and transparent system, I would like to humbly propose the following reform:

 Proposed Suggestion

1. Limited role of national entrance test (NTA):

   • The national-level examination (NEET or similar test) should be conducted only for:
     • 100% admissions in AIIMS and other central institutions
     • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS seats

2. State-level admission system (85% quota):

   • The remaining 85% MBBS seats in state government medical colleges should be filled based on:
     • A combined merit list of SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) marks

 Reasoning Behind the Proposal

• Reduces dependence on a single high-pressure entrance exam
• Encourages long-term academic consistency instead of one-day performance
• Minimizes mental stress and financial burden on students and families
• Reduces excessive reliance on coaching institutes
• Helps prevent risks of paper leaks and exam-related irregularities
• Provides a simpler and more equitable admission process
