Sudden rise in edible oil prices
Within 3 days a one-liter pouch of soyabean oil cost Rs 125 from Rs 100.This 25 % rise also in other edible oils .Government increased custom duty on imported edible oils to 20%.They say this will benefit farmers .Government also said 30 lakh tons of edible oil stock available in market which may last for 45 days.The main objection from the consumer side is why old stock of edible oil prices spiked.
Personally, I observed that from factories the edible oil packets of one litre, 5 can, and a 15-liter can are supplied with a preprinted bulged price.This provide sellers to sell edible oil at high rate to consumers .We have to correct this bulged price MRP printing on packets and on cans .Today 100 Rs edible oil packet was printed with Rs 180 MRP .This makes sellers sell old edible oil packets and cans at higher price without MRP on packet being changed.Please save consumers from such price rise.
